Fonab Castle

At Christmas we were gifted a voucher for Fonab castle in Pitlochary, and we recently used the voucher for an overnight stay. When given the voucher we were told that it was for the three of us, Archie included, my initial reaction was "Are you sure a hotel like this accepts dogs". When we arrived at the hotel though I was proven completely wrong not only does the hotel accept dogs they are "dog friendly". Everyone fused over Archie from the moment he arrived, and the service we received was fantastic! They had fully catered for Archie, with a bed, water bowl and some treats awaiting his arrival. The hotel itself is beautiful and set right on the banks of Loch Faskally. I honestly could not recommend this hotel enough, if your looking for a bit of luxury - and lets face it you shouldn't have to give that up just because you have a dog - then this is the hotel for you.

The king of the castle!

At the time of booking the lodge rooms were getting renovated so we were offered one of the woodland suites. Located in the contemporary wing of the castle the woodland suites have patio doors, which is perfect to avoid walking the mucky pup through the reception. The suite had a separate lounge with sliding doors meaning we didn't have to share the bedroom with Archie, he settles better in his own space. The room also had two bathrooms! That is what you call luxury!

Delicious breakfast, of course I went for the french toast!

The location of the hotel on the banks of Loch Faskally also make it the perfect spot to take your dogs for a walk. Walk highlands  maps out a 5km route that involves walking from Pitlochry around Loch Faskally.

Our tip to Fonab got us thinking what other 5 star hotels we could visit with Archie, so where too next...? Recommendations are more than welcome.
